Jo Atkins - Coach of the Quarter (Dec 2011)

Jo has been working incredibly hard for Little Kickers and in numerous ways. Jo has managed to turn the old adage on its head, being a Master of all trades and a jack of none. Not only does Jo lead brilliantly for numerous franchisees in the South-East, she also is involved in the administration and business side for several franchisees.

The Coach of the Month Award was introduced by Little Kickers in 2005 as a way of recognizing coaches who excel. Each month, the network of close to 100 UK franchisees is asked to nominate one of their coaches to be put forward for the draw to win this prestigious award. The lucky winner receives a cash prize, as well as recognition within the company and amongst enthusiastic Little Kickers participants….more

Jo, whose love of Football started at an early age, plays for Bracknell Town Football Club and she also had a real passion for working with children. When she found out about Little Kickers, Jo felt that opportunity to combine these two genuine interests was too good to miss.

Speaking from the Camberley Little Kickers class, one of the many she coaches, Jo said “I love Little Kickers, no matter how bad your day has been or what ever your mood you are in, these classes bring out the best in everyone, including me. I still don’t really consider coaching as work, more of a hobby, which makes it even better to be recognized in this way. I really am made up by the award.”

Daniel Brownlie, the Director of Coaching for Little Kickers has only positive words to say about her, “Jo has been fantastic, having had the pleasure of watching a couple of her classes, she has the perfect balance of masterful and authoritive coaching mixed with the perfect blend of fun and excitement, which all together creates a brilliant atmosphere in the class for both children and parents alike. The children love her, and the parents hold her in high regard. The beauty of having Jo as a lead coach is that her genuine enthusiasm is infectious; it’s so good to see someone who enjoys their job as much as she does!”

Rob Webb, the franchisee who nominated Coach Jo, commented “Jo is a very dedicated coach who has been working for me for the past three years and clearly loves her job. Jo is an exceptional talent; a natural with the children who is able to adapt very quickly given and situation that may arise in class! I am very proud of Jo for receiving coach of the quarter – it is thoroughly well deserved.”

Nick Empson – one of the many franchisees that Jo works for said, “Coach Jo has been with Little Kickers now for some years and is one of our ‘veteran’ coaches. She is excellent with the children and always brings her energy and enthusiasm to her classes. She is a fantastic assistant coach, but is never afraid to step up and lead classes, which s probably why she is so popular and now coaches classes all across Berkshire” Jo has shown over the years her great ability to adapt to new situations and also to take on more responsibility. Jo is charismatic and has a natural ability to build rapport with people both at the classes and behind the scenes. She really is doing an excellent job, well done.”
